Manager Sterile Processing
In this role, you will manage the services and departments in providing patient care equipment and surgical instrumentation reprocessing functions including collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, and distribution. You will be responsible for managing the surgical instrument inventory and supplies supporting departmental activities. You will also serve as a subject matter expert and resource for product reprocessing needs and will develop/ensure compliance with the departmental budget as well as manage fixed departmental equipment and plant property. In addition, you will work collaboratively with other departments and units to ensure efficient, safe, and effective instruments and equipment availability and will model excellence in customer service, ensuring the highest standards for both internal and external constituent satisfaction.
At least three years of experience in an acute or ambulatory care sterile processing department
At least one year of supervisory experience
At least one year of experience in preparing for local, state, and/or federal survey and/or The Joint Commission
A bachelor’s degree in business, manufacturing, health care administration, public health, health sciences or five years of experience in an acute or ambulatory care sterile processing department and two years of supervisory experience with a high school diploma or GED
Current Sterile Processing Technician certification (CSPDT or CRCST) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
The ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
Preferred Qualifications Include:
Certification in Leadership Certification (CHL)
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
Five years of experience in an acute care sterile processing department
Three years of progressive supervisory experience
One year or more supervisory experience in a union environment
