Responsible for supporting the daily operations that relate to the reprocessing of instrumentation including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, and sterilizing instruments, trays, and equipment for the hospital and affiliate physicians offices. Responsible for case cart preparation and delivery as well as the replenishment of Operating Room supplies stored within the Sterile Processing Department. Sterile processing technicians will be cross trained in all areas of the department and may participate in precepting new employees if directed by the manager. Techs must have a high level of integrity by following all internal procedures and external regulatory processes.

High School graduate
Basic computer skills and aptitude
Current Certification for sterile processing maintained thru approved Sterile Processing organization.
Working knowledge of aseptic principles and techniques.
Working knowledge of instruments, how they are cleaned and sterilized.
Working knowledge of the use of steam and Sterrad equipment and any other equipment used in decontamination, cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
Certification maintained thru approved Sterile Processing organization (IAHCSMM or CBSPD). Documentation submitted as evidence of educational requirements fulfilled and certification maintained.
Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician program
One year experience in Sterile Processing or related field preferred and/or if candidate has successfully completed an approved Sterile Processing education program.
