The Recreation Therapist (â€œRTâ€�) will provide recreational therapy and related services for the residents in the Hermitage Hall program.Â The RT will actively participate in ensuring the RAD Department functions are carried out in a professional, consistent and thorough manner to include: social skills program; recreational therapy program; off-campus therapeutic activities; treatment planning; individual, unit and facility events; staff training; other functions as requested. This individual will be responsible for coordination, scheduling and facilitation of programming within the RAD program for the residents and staff of Hermitage Hall.Â (S)he will be responsible for all documentation associated with assigned functions.Â This individual is capable of functioning independently and maturely in stressful situations and maintains a community-safety focus.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees and facilitates high quality residential activity services for all residents, and provides activities (e.g. team building) for staff as requested.
Oversees the development of, and ensures the facilitation of, comprehensive Social Skills programming for all residents.
Ensures that comprehensive therapeutic recreation services are scheduled and facilitated, including individual and group activities.
Ensures all residents complete recreational therapy and skills assessments, as necessary, to provide residents with appropriate treatment services.
Organizes and oversees facility-wide activities and events.
Organizes and oversees vocational training program for residents, as appropriate.
Responsible for organization and oversight of recreational, educational, vocational and therapeutic off-campus trips for residents and completes associated tasks and documentation within the required timeframes.
Responsible for maintaining all RAD designated areas.
Ensures that admission assessments and reports (a summary of findings) on all admissions are completed and distributed as necessary. Maintains a filing of admission assessments which is accessible to treatment team and other individuals as necessary.
Ensures that Residential Activity portion of Master Treatment Plan is completed and goals are generated based on relevant assessment findings.
Serves as a member of assigned treatment team(s) and performs associated functions (i.e. treatment team documentation, meeting participation).
Participates in and/or supervises the development and implementation of new treatment components within the facility program.
Develops training curriculums and conducts training presentations for facility, company and community organizations/groups, as requested.
Actively participates in program development and modification within the facility, company and other organizations, as requested.
Demonstrates understanding of , as well as skill in problem solving.
Demonstrates understanding and implementation of sexual abuser treatment program.
Demonstrates understanding of human sexuality, as well as skill in discussing sexual issues with residents without embarrassment.
Develops a therapeutic relationship (compassionate, caring, supportive) with each resident while maintaining role as an appropriate authority figure.
Creates and fosters an atmosphere whereby residents are continually given choices and subsequently taught how to make effective, moral choices.
Regularly monitors the safety of the facility/residents and ensures that residential staff work with the residents and peers to keep risk factors at a minimum. Assures that any security or safety issues are reported immediately upon discovery.
Makes needed policy recommendations to supervisor, the Administrator, Human Resources Manager or appropriate personnel for improvements in the area of program structure.
Conducts other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Ensures safety of all residents and staff through compliance with all regulations and through active participation in committees as designated.
Ensures provision of quality services through active participation in committees/programs as designated.
Meets with supervisor on a regular basis for supervision.
Demonstrates knowledge of state licensing regulations, contractual requirements, CARF standards, HIPAA policy, ordinances, laws and other regulations required by his/her position and acts consistently and in obedience to same.
Completes are required reports and program forms appropriately and on time.
Keeps personnel file complete and maintains or submits any record, report, or documentation required, doing so with all due quality and in a timely fashion.
Maintains security and confidentiality of all documentation related to residents and ensures that documentation is appropriately filed and stored.
Ensures all required documentation is appropriately distributed.
Obtains and documents required hours each year of in-service, training, conference and workshop attendance, or other presentations related to work at Hermitage Hall.
Attends required training (e.g. Handle with Care) as necessary.
