The Sterile Processing Technician 2 supports all departments of the Medical Center in the coordination of surgical instrumentation and cleaning activities. Additional responsibilities include the provision of organizational, communication and assertive skills necessary to facilitate the flow of sterile processing activities. These responsibilities include provision of maintenance of instruments, sterility process, maintenance of anesthesia supplies and carts, LDRP/Surgical Services case picking, room set-ups for surgical services, and support of resources to patients, visitors, physicians, staff and ancillary personnel. Responsible for the utilization and maintenance of surgical supplies, order entry functions, and orientation/training of new personnel and collaboration with the healthcare team towards achieving fiscal and quality care goals and of outcomes for the divisions within surgical services. This position also supports the O.R. Materials Coordinator and Director of Surgical Services in the implementation of surgical services activities.
Examples of duties include:
·Communication to facilitate patient care delivery and unit efficiency
·Perform daily instrument room activities
·Provide unit staffing
·Knowledge of ESI/ORBIT/NOVA/OSCAR computer systems
·Maintain surgery/departmental sterility records and other appropriate data
·Assist with instruments and supplies for surgery schedule
·Maintain current/accurate unit information
·Participate in hiring process as requested
·Support staff cross-training
·Knowledge of cart maintenance

College education preferred, general studies
Two years health care experience required. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for staff with strong education and associated experiential background.
