As a Staff Research Associate II, you'll contribute to the understanding of gynecologic epithelial cancer. You'll help us identify epithelial ovarian cancer stem cells and the molecular pathways that could be targeted therapeutically. You'll work closely with the Principal Investigator, performing molecular, biochemical and cellular research projects to uncover the events involved in the formation and progression of gynecologic diseases. The knowledge gained from this research will help us design and test clinical strategies for cancer treatment. This key role involves the preparation of data management forms, tissue culture work, the preparation of RNA, DNA, protein and viruses, PCR, immunohistochemistry, overseeing equipment maintenance, ordering materials and preparing data and manuscripts for publication.
QualificationsWe're seeking an independent, detail-oriented professional with: Related Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) Previous laboratory experience in molecular, biochemical and cellular research. Experience isolating tissues and doing tissue culture work. Knowledge of contract and grant application processes. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational, record keeping and teamwork skills. Ability to perform biochemical techniques as well as molecular biology techniques. Expertise with lab equipment such as PCR machines, centrifuges, etc. Ability to analyze research findings and prepare relevant reports. Computer proficiency. Experience with tissue culture, RT and real time PCR. Skill in troubleshooting and repairing laboratory instruments and equipment. Flexibility in working a varied 40-hour work week, that includes evenings, early morning and weekends. Ability to consult with pathologists regarding specimen usage for clinical research.
