ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Supervisor, perform independently a wide variety of technical and non-technical procedures in the autopsy and decedent affairs section of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Ensure all work is performed properly and in a timely manner. Duties are to manage the administrative and technical services related to autopsies, assist the physicians in ensuring the correct and timely completion of all necessary forms, reports, and documents for decedents. Act as the administrative contact for the Coroner's Office, public administrator, law enforcement agencies, attorneys and mortuaries; and controlling access to the Medical Center body holding area and the CHS morgue.
QualificationsGeneral supervision by Anatomic Pathology Supervisor. Written procedures are available and there are tasks expected to be performed without direct supervision. Ability to assist Faculty/Residents/Fellows and Medical Students to perform autopsies as needed. Ability to routinely perform certain anatomical dissections and assist in others when requested. Ability to verify that autopsy permissions are properly completed to meet legal requirements. Arrange autopsy time, inform all medical and hospital services involved, and inform all individual members of the clinical staff interested in the case. Ability to keep the autopsy supervisor informed of personnel and operational problems. Ability to perform and complete with accuracy and within established time frame any duties and/or projects assigned by autopsy supervisor. Written procedures are available and there are tasks expected to be performed without direct supervision.
