All the primary duties within this document will be performed according to established policies, procedures and guidelines within the department and Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center. The Patient Access Technician is a complex clerical position involving multiple tasks and functions. Assists callers with questions regarding program information and treatment options.Responsible for the accuracy and completion of patient registration based on departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Answers inquiry calls and communicates with other health care facilities and providers. Ability to understand reported patient clinical information from consumers and referral sources.Â Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrates thorough documentation as needed.Â Follows the guidelines for handling inquiry calls and meets all competency expectations.Â Must possess excellent insight and sensitivity to patient/family needs.
The Patient Access Technician (PAT), functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescent through geriatrics depending on which unit worked and transportation of patients to / from units. Â Takes patient vital signs and is responsible for inventory of patient belongings.Â Conducts Q 15 minute visual checks as necessary. Performs duties necessary to ensure all accounts are processed accurately and efficiently.Â Facilitates the flow of patient information across the continuum of care. Prioritizes multiple requests for assistance from patients, staff and physicians. Performs other duties as assigned.
