An opportunity exists for a Sterile Processing Educator within the Sterile Processing Department at Penn State Health - Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Educator will be responsible to provide substantial QA, CQI, and education to all sterile processing staff using structured techniques to compile, organize, analyze outcomes/quality check data and use this information for improvement plans and formulating educational programs. They will utilize evidence-based practice standards to ensure employees are thoroughly trained while documenting competencies, with the guidelines set forth by industry standards and regulations.
Conduct training/instruction during orientation; monitor/track performance of new employees
Develops/maintains educational plan, schedule for continuing education/training
Assist staff with education of new equipment/instrumentation, products, and procedures
Works in collaboration with Service Line Coordinators, Nurse Clinical Leaders, Sterile Processing Lead Tech, and all Perioperative staff
Reviews and revises policies and procedures to ensure best practices are demonstrated
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
Working knowledge/understanding of adult learning theory
Ability to organize complex educational projects
Good oral and written communication skills and computer skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
The qualifications for this position include:
Associates degree in Surgical technology or Certified Surgical technologist required
