Mental Health Technicians are expected to work in any of our patient populations from youth to adult.
Duties and Responsibilities: Provides structure and safety to the milieu environment as directed by hospital and unit procedures. Manages patient behavior effectively. Provides services that support nurses, teachers, activity therapists, and other departments in various activities. Instructs, assists, and supervises patients in activities of daily living.
The shifts are 12 hours.
Maintain safe environment and appropriate boundaries with patients and staff.
Provide role modeling of appropriate behavior to patients for effective responsible citizenship and conflict resolution. This includes teaching appropriate social skills, communication skills, and relationship building skills.
Monitor and evaluate patient participation in patient treatment activities.
Assist in providing therapeutic and/or recreational activities. Provide structure and direction for educational groups for Lifeskills, Psych Ed., Self-esteem and Anger Management.
Must be able to work on all units as deemed necessary by supervisor.
Must comply with all competencies in a timely manner.
Documentation every 15 minutes and a brief note written on each Q-15 for each patient on the board
