Job Description: The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. The Mental Health Technician assists in providing basic physical, social, spiritual and safety needs of patients through the implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches and related nursing functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse and or Program Director and within the scope of the Mental Health Technician position. The Mental Health Technician will care for patients ages 4-18 and 19 to older adults. Thereby, he/she will be responsible for basic patient care supervision, transport, participation in recreational activities and other assigned functions according to philosophy, goals and functions of the hospital. The Mental Health Technician provides documentation in the medical record, facilitates group activities and maintains a clean, safe environment. Responsible for the effective milieu management.
