SENIOR CENTRAL STERILE TECHNICIAN
Natividad currently has a full-time permanent opportunity for a Senior Central Sterile Technician. Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting physicians, nurses and nursing staff, performing a variety of non-professional tasks in providing direct care to patients and performing a variety of clerical tasks.
Develop, monitor and evaluate individual staff development plans; conduct unit-specific orientation; and perform the initial and continuous training of Central Sterile Technicians, including one-on-one sessions and department in-services
Organize and coordinate the activities/work in the Central Sterile and Endoscopy Unit; assist in supervising subordinate staff by assigning, coordinating and reviewing work; prepare scheduling assignments which ensure adequate coverage
Perform the full scope of duties of a Central Sterile Technician whenever requested and/or necessary
Monitor, direct and evaluate the maintenance and quality assurance process for equipment in the Central Sterile and Endoscopy Unit; maintain and modify a record keeping system for all departmental equipment
Act as a resource person on matters concerning industry standards, policies, procedures, equipment and practices in the assigned specialized areas. Educate Central Sterile and Endoscopy staff on equipment care and use, pre and post procedure
Participate on hospital committees/teams; collect quality control data through visualization and other departmental statistics to ensure Endoscopy and Central Sterile cleaning practices are upheld; and analyze and utilize the data to prepare written reports
Participate in the selection and performance evaluation process for Central Sterile and Endoscopy staff, and record and document usage, losses and outdated supplies
The position requires three years of experience in the Central Sterile Unit of an acute hospital
Prefer the following:
Experience in Endoscopy high level disinfection practices
CA Certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant
Certification in Central Sterile
