Lead Sterile Processing Tech
Sharp Grossmont Hospital
This Lead Sterile Processing Tech position will act as liaison between the Sterile Processing Distribution (SDP) team and all nursing units. This Lead Sterile Processing Tech role will ensures the processing and distribution of all instruments and supplies required throughout the hospital in collaboration with Materials Management and other staff. The Lead SPD Tech will also supervise Sterile Processing Technician team members.
Sharp Grossmont Hospital is comprised of 3 Sterile Processing Department (SPD) areas. A main SPD and a satellite SPD area located within the Main Operating Room and within the Grossmont Plaza Surgery Center. The satellite SPD areas perform many duties to include dirty decontamination, washing instruments, instrument tray assembly, pulling cases, etc. The Main SPD provides terminal sterilization of the instruments sets for the main Operating, GPSC, and the Women's Center OR's as well as procedural areas. This person will be responsible for approximately 25 employees. Total surgical cases between the 3 areas perform approximately 13,500 cases annually.

Required Skills Qualifications:
Current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification
Five years Sterile Processing or Operating Room experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical technique, and surgical instruments
Knowledge and ability of decontamination and sterilization process for instrumentation and equipment
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited sterile processing – central service technology program
