We are looking for a dynamic, growth-focused Infectious Diseases leader with excellent clinical experience, proven academic interest, and great vision and creativity upon the retirement of the current section chief. Our program provides comprehensive Infectious Diseases services to a diverse patient mix in a tertiary care, Level 1 trauma center. An integrated Carilion Children’s Hospital is on campus. There are active programs in Hospital Epidemiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Outpatient Antibiotic Therapy. There are few positions in the country that can boast such wonderful potential.
Our Infectious Diseases fellowship program has a 100% first-time board pass rate for our fellows, and we work closely with our pharmacy colleagues who host a top-notch Infectious Diseases Pharmacy residency program. Our outpatient clinic offers a full range of services that include a Ryan White funded HIV clinic, Hepatitis C clinic, OPAT clinic, and a successful Travel clinic.

Carilion Clinic maintains an active Office of Sponsored Projects to support physicians in translational research. We collaborate in a recently awarded NIH Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA). We provide vibrant interprofessional education that includes medical students from VTC School of Medicine and the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, residents from multiple Carilion Clinic training programs, allied health science students from Radford University Carilion, and VT undergraduate and graduate students.
MD/DO, ABIM Board Certification in Adult Infectious Diseases
Experience in Pediatric Infectious Diseases preferred but not required
Evidence of strong organizational, communication and leadership skills
Physician leadership experience with emphasis on team-building; development of integrated collaborative models of care, education, and research; and managing people and programs.
