This position is responsible to ensure that all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, and traced in a quality/timely manner throughout the hospital. Performs daily quality control tests. Ensures that these responsibilities are carried out according to established directions designated in procedure manual. Functions as a team member, supporting department activities providing for optimal instrument and equipment processing. Functions as a patient advocate. Responsible for performing delegated activities to support the operating room team in the care of the surgical patient. High school graduate or GED or three years instrumentation experience in a hospital setting.
Certified Central Service Technician certification preferred.
Successful completion of a vocational program for Central Service, preferred.
Technician or equivalent education/work experience, preferred
Basic computer knowledge
Good interpersonal skills
Good verbal and written communications skills (English)
Self Motivated, able to work independently with little or no supervision
Able to work standing
