Performs complex clinical laboratory tests and procedures. Maintains and calibrates equipment. Provides teaching and education to students and other team members.
Performs clinical laboratory tests according to established procedures of verification, processing, testing, and reporting.
Performs the pertinent quality control procedures to validate test results according to established standards and records results appropriately.
Assists in delivery of physicians reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner.
Responds to 'technical question' calls from units and physicians.
Performs preventive maintenance and monitoring of all equipment to ensure that it is working properly and maintains related records.
Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement, and maintenance needed of equipment.
Maintains adequate supply inventories by rotating stock, checking for expiration dates, and ordering replacement stock..
Performs venipuncture on patients of all age groups and other specimen collection using proper therapeutic skills and according to procedures.
Assists supervisors in additional duties, which support the lab's quality program.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Science required upon hire OR
Bachelor's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
A minimum of 1 years' internship in a Hospital Laboratory required
MT - Certified as a Medical Technologist required within 6 months of employment in this position OR
MLS - Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist required within 6 months of employment in this position
