Performs a wide range of routine to moderately complex medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Performs clinical testing in one or more areas of the Hospital’s lab: hematology, chemistry, blood bank, urinalysis, serology, and/or coagulation.
Performs a wide range of routine to moderately medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to determine presence of normal and/or abnormal components; notifies appropriate medical staff of values that are deemed critical to patient’s health or treatment; recommends additional tests as appropriate.
Collects specimens from patients and processes specimens for testing or storage in accordance with established procedures.
Validates, calculates, and tabulates results of tests performed, posts findings to log books and quality control records, and makes reports of observations.
Assists medical staff with questions related to clinical testing procedures and interpretation of test results. Assists in maintaining work areas; cleans equipment/instruments, restocks supplies, and orders supplies as necessary.
Attends staff meetings and in-service programs.
Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization’s policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
*ASCP registry, NCA registry, or equivalent
*No experience is required *Minimum of one year of related hospital laboratory experience-- Preferred.
*Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology

*Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of clinical laboratory tests and analyses *Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies related to the provision of laboratory services including HIPAA confidentiality and JCAHO mandates *Written and computer skills necessary to prepare required documentation *Interpersonal skills necessary to provide courteous and accurate information to other departments, medical staff, patients, and their families *Analytical ability to perform a wide range of clinical laboratory tests and chemical analyses on biological samples and identify normal and abnormal values *Ability to provide technical guidance and instruction to lower level professional staff within area of expertise. *Mental ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands, meet ongoing deadlines, and work on tasks requiring accuracy and attention to detail *Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, lift/move items weighing up to 50 pounds, and properly utilize required laboratory equipment/tools *Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
