This GS-12 Medical Technologist (Laboratory Information Manager) position is open to current, permanent federal employees. Applicant's note: This announcement is being used to fill various positions at facilities throughout the VISN 8: VA Sunshine Network. You must choose which facilities you want to be considered for. You may select one or more facilitiy; but you must select at least one when you apply. You will only be considered for the facilities that you select. Facilities may have positions that are in various duty locations covered by its facility. Note that some facilities may not have current vacancies at the time of this announcement. However, applicants may be considered for future and any additional vacancies that become available in the next 90 days. Medical Technologist (Laboratory Information Manager) duties consist of but are not limited to the following: Implements and maintains coding and mapping for laboratory test ordering, reporting, billing, and workload recording systems. Prepares workload for CLIA, LMIP, OPES, MCA/DSS or other workload reports. Advise all organizational levels on various aspects of the functions and capabilities of the laboratory information system. Serves as a recognized expert to provide authoritative advice and consultation on the laboratory information system. Serves as the local expert for national software developers for alpha or beta testing of software packages. Facilitate training, installation, implementation, maintenance, and overall use of LIS laboratory options throughout the healthcare system. Test and verify released patches, new software or test updates for accurate functionality before moving into the live production account. Report and resolve clinical, business operational, technical issues through approved channels. Works with/directs the Office &IT section in interfacing various laboratory instruments and lab automation to provide a more rapid and reliable flow of patient results into the LIS system. This includes knowledge of the network connections, Universal Interface and lab automation. Participates with the LEDI (Laboratory Electronic Data Exchange software) software requirements for compliance. Oversees document control software implementation, maintenance and training as needed to maintain operation. Carries out day-to-day operations related to laboratory computer use. Ensure compliance with local and national policies and procedures, federal agency regulations and regulatory agencies. Works with local, VISN and national workgroups to develop work methods and policies and procedures. Communicates and documents actions and progress reports to lab management.
