This position will serve as a Cytology Technician for Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 5 Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the VA Maryland Healthcare System in Baltimore, Maryland. The incumbent is responsible for the overall routine operation of the cytology laboratory section. Duties include but are not limited to: Prepare cytological specimens for microscopy analysis using Cytyc Thin Prep 200. Accession, process and stain routine gynecological slides. Process non-gynecological specimens. Evaluate requested procedures to determine the suitability of specimen. Prepare cellblock material for submission to Histology for processing. Order and maintain supplies for cytology lab. Perform daily/monthly QA/QC in cytology laboratory. Prepare Gyn specimens for send out for HPV testing. Prepare cytology and histology slides and blocks mailing packages for send out to attorney's offices, as needed. Prepare Thyroid FNA biopsy case slides with Diff-Quick stain for specimen adequacy whenever requested. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday - 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
