The Cincinnati VA medical Center is seeking a Medical Instrument Technician (Vascular) in the Radiology Service.The technician independently performs standard/complex examinations and also collaborates on surgical and research procedures under supervision of licensed independent practitioner. The technician will evaluate the nature of critical and emergency procedures, and rearranges patients scheduled to accommodate them. Maintains records of patients examined and transmits images to the archival system. Advises radiologists or referring clinician of significant abnormalities that would require their immediate attention and visualization while the patent is undergoing specific procedures. Performs ultrasound examinations in the various medical ultrasound procedures to include the abdomen, neck, chest, extremities and retoperitoneal space, for the purpose of acquiring high quality examinations that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patient medical disorders. Performs routine clerical procedures for the purpose of maintain accurate ultrasound records so that easy recall of patient examinations may be achieved. This requires maintaining a diagnostic log, patient schedule log, and procedure log, editing and when necessary registering patients in the Radiology Information System (RIS). All duties performed in electronic medium. Makes multiple simultaneous settings and adjustments in operation of equipment to insure accurate results. Reviews new developments in the field and recommends to the supervisor those that would improve the operation of the section. Performing functions but, not limited to: Intra-operative Ultrasound examinations to assist the surgeons in procedures such as vascular surgeries Upper and Lower extremity Venous Doppler, Upper and Lower extremity vein mapping, Upper and Lower extremity arterial duplex, Arterial bypass graft and stent assessment, Renal artery Doppler, Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
