General Summary: Medical Lab Technician is responsible for processing patient specimens and performing medical laboratory testing under the direction of a physician.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory agencies including CLIA/COLA, OSHA, and others.
Ensure quality control processes are completed and documented per regulatory authority guidance.
Follow approved laboratory policies and procedures using good clinical laboratory practices and good laboratory safety practices.
Process specimens for and perform basic CLIA-waived and non-waived testing ordered by a physician or other licensed practitioner
Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of results according to established laboratory policies.
Prepare laboratory samples for outside labs, including the necessary paperwork
Support laboratory administrative and clerical functions, including patient recordkeeping and preparing and processing testing paperwork
Maintain laboratory materials, equipment and inventory
Responsible for proper storage, use and good stewardship of laboratory supplies and reagents.
Ensure applicable equipment is operating at required temperatures and humidity
Follow established safety measures including the OSHA exposure control plan and safe disposal of biological waste.
Participate in continuing education programs
Assist with other Laboratory functions as directed.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program
Certification: Medical Lab Technician certification preferred not required State Certification required when applicable.
Experience: Must have a minimum of one year of experience working in a clinic lab setting.
