This Medical Instrument Technician (EKG) position is located in the Cardiology Department at the West Haven location. This position is a full-time at 40 hours per week. Duties for the position include but are not limited to: Independently performs the full range of electrocardiograph procedures, and related examinations; Utilizes MUSE and MARS cardiology storage system and trouble shoots any issues by contacting G/E; Operates diagnostic medical equipment as a part of treatment of patient, supports registered nurses; and physician's equipment; Receives request and/or, consults for procedures; Interprets request from physician for appropriateness of requested procedure for patient's ability perform prescribed test. Receives assignment for which clear precedents exist; Receives assignments that require application of standard procedures or that have special procedures identified and explained; Employee understands and carries out the appropriate requests made by practitioners or seeks assistance of the supervision when an uncommon, unique or new procedure is requested; Instructs patient pre-procedure to assure confidence and cooperation of patient during procedures; Independently explains various procedures including need for positions on table, monitoring equipment, adverse reactions to stressing agents; Explains requirements for accurate monitoring and necessity of diary entries; Answers question by patient and or family members; Performs MI Tech work with Holter/Event Monitoring specialty. This specialty area requires experience in applying, operating and instructing in Holter and Event Monitoring equipment; Monitor tracings to identify arrhythmias, they edit and select an appropriate sample portion of the tracing for further interpretation by the physician; Supplies monthly reports so payment can be made. Schedules/registers patient for application and removal of monitors. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday. Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required.
