An exciting opportunity exists for an Associate Director of Sterile Processing at Penn State Health - Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (HMC) in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Associate Director is responsible for the oversight of the Sterile Processing department and surgical instrumentation with HMC operating rooms, labor and delivery unit, emergency department, and other hospital units as well as all medical group practice sites. This is a full-time, exempt, day shift position. Relocation funds are authorized for this position.
Responsibilities include the long range growth strategies in addition to the daily financial and operational management of the department with an operating budget of approximately $6.5 million. Ensures the methods for cleaning, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing instruments and equipment are performed according to CBSPD, AAMI, and IAHCSMM standards. Accountable for ensuring the use of evidence-based practices and complying with local, state, and regulatory agencies. They will service as the primary contact for Infection Control practitioners and internal HMC regulatory staff.
The minimum qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years’ of experience (four years)
Five years of relevant experience including two years at a supervisory level
CRCST and CHL or CIS/CST certifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent analytical and persuasion skills
Computer and software knowledge to include Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook
Familiarity with JCAHO/CMS regulations for infection control
Lean Six Sigma experience
Three-plus years’ of experience in a Level I trauma or high volume, large healthcare facility
Experience working in a unionized environment
