This position is in Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) located in a Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative and customer service support for the VA hospital food service program. Some duties may include: Maintains the vital connection between Nutrition Communication Center (NCC) Associates, Registered Dietitian, higher graded dietetic technicians, food service staff, Nursing, patients and guests Advises food service supervisors and/or food production chief of any special orders or changes needed that may impact food production, including instances when substitutions are needed due to food preferences. Uses computer skills to precisely and swiftly move between functions in software systems and effectively log on and off the computer system. Prints lists, reports, labels, and tray tickets following the established local facility procedures. Cleans and maintains NFS equipment such as refrigerators and juice machines located on patient units. Follows written directions for setting up individual and bulk nourishments such as tube feedings, juice, shakes, milk, sandwiches, etc. Practices excellent customer service skills in all forms of communication, either via telephone, e-mail or in-person. Provides Veterans, guest/family members, VA employees (i.e. nursing staff) with basic information about the menu, available food items and refers concerns on compliance problems or appetite to supervisor and/or dietitian.
