The Birmingham VA Medical Center (BVAMC) is currently recruiting for one (1) Health Technician to work in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service line with duty our CBOC located in Huntsville Alabama. **Occasional travel to other CBOCs in order to work out of mobile audiology van may be required. The selectee will be responsible for the following: Greeting and escorting patients. Scheduling patients. Packaging and mailing ear mold orders, device repairs, and factory returns Entering hearing aid orders and repair services through Remote Order Entry System (ROES) as directed by supervising audiologists. Registering hearing aids and assistive devices through ROES. Certifying hearing aids and repairs through ROES. Performing inventories of equipment and supplies. Entering station supply orders in ROES. Performing checks on hearing aids and other amplification devices. Performing troubleshooting and minor repairs to hearing aids, ear molds, and other amplification devices. Cleaning hearing aids and other amplification devices. Instructing patients in proper use and care of hearing aids and other amplification devices. Demonstrating alerting and assistive listening devices. Instructing patients in proper ear hygiene. Assisting audiologists in treatment programs. Assisting audiologists with set-up and technical tasks. Preparing materials for ear impressions. Maintaining and restocking test and treatment rooms. Performing equipment maintenance and biologic checks. Performing non-diagnostic otoscopy. Performing cerumen management under the direct supervision of an audiologist Taking ear impressions under the direct supervision or an audiologist Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm Travel Required: Yes Compressed/Flexible: Available Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
