This position serves as a Health Technician, for the New Mexico VA Healthcare System, SCI interdisciplinary team. The Health Technician provide assistance of a technical, specialized, and support nature to nursing personnel in the treatment of a patient's illness or medical condition. Duties include, but not limited to: Measure, record, and report vital signs, weights, leg measurements, neurological checks, and circulatory checks. Set up/operate/maintain equipment (EKG equipment, portable suction, O2, tube-feeding, glucometers, etc.). Arrange and pass medical instruments and materials to medical/health professionals for a variety of tests and procedures, such as wound care and skin debridement. Perform venipuncture. Assist health care professionals in positioning patient during complex procedures. Provide clerical and administrative support to the unit through coverage of telephones, arranging transport of patients to off ward appointments, and documentation of care/treatment in medical record.
