The Neurodiagnostic Technician Trainee will provide support and assist staff in performing electroencephalogram (EEG) or nerve conduction velocities (NCV) testing using proper technique for placing and attaching the electrodes and for positioning the patient.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Works with the technicians from each unit to troubleshoot problems with machine maintenance and repair.
Uses EEG to measure impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain in order to obtain data for use in diagnosis of brain disorders.
Works to contribute to the effective functioning of the department.
Ensures that EEG testing area is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition at all times.
Assists with the upkeep, maintenance and repair of parts, tools and test equipment.
Produces clinical documentation of patient information.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Basic understanding of general health care modalities, therapies, terminology and equipment.
Completion of specialized or vocational courses preferred.
Must be able to follow detailed instructions on all procedures.
Able to establish good rapport with patients and the staff.
Ability to concentrate for long periods of time under stressful conditions and still perform properly and effectively.
Basic computer skills, including but not limited to: typing, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand held scanning and email.
