The health technician position works in the Pathology and Laboratory medicine Section VA Outpatient Clinic .The Incumbent provides assistance of a technical, specialized, or support nature to health and medical personnel in the diagnosis or treatment of patient Obsesses or medical conditions. Support medical and health professionals in tests and procedures to diagnose and treat medical conditions. Perform a range of diagnostic support duties such as taking and labeling specimens for the laboratory. Provides assistance of a technical, specialized, or support nature to health and medical personnel in the diagnosis or treatment of patient Obsesses or medical conditions. Explains procedures and positions patients for standard procedures. Follow safety procedures such as infection control and universal precautions at all times while drawing blood Receive request for testing into the Laboratory. Notify technologists of impending work. Maintain records for routine patient test or laboratory transactions. Verify the accuracy and completeness of requests through the use of Vista or CPRS computer systems. Maintain records for routine patient test or laboratory transactions. Recognize emergency situations and take necessary actions.
